Lafayette Park Soccer Field
Lafayette Park in Los Angeles has a refurbished soccer field thanks to funding from the LA84 Foundation and Nike. The new synthetic surface will provide much-needed soccer space for Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) and Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks youth programs.
Congressman Xavier Becerra (34th District) was joined by Barry A. Sanders, Commission President, L.A. City Recreation and Parks; Tony Brown, Executive Director, HOLA; Patrick Escobar, Vice President of Grants and Programs, and HOLA youngsters and parents for the May 30, 2013 opening ceremony.
“Lafayette Park is one of the busiest parks in Los Angeles,” said Escobar. “Working together, HOLA and LA City Recreation and Parks offer many great opportunities for youngsters to be involved in great programs. The LA84 Foundation is pleased to have contributed to the refurbishment of this field where thousands of youngsters will get to play the sport they love.”
Congressman Becerra punctuated the ribbon cutting ceremony by taking the first kick.
