Holmes and Palms Win Middle School Basketball Championship

The girls team from Holmes Middle School and the boys from Palms Middle School were crowned as champions at the LA84 Foundation/Beyond the Bell Middle School Basketball District-Wide Finals held on March 3, 2012. The finals matched up four boys teams and four girls teams that had advanced through regional qualifying tournaments.
The finals were held at the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex gyms teeming with parents, friends and supporters of each team. On the girls side, Holmes defeated Dodson in a highly competitive game. The team from White Middle School earned third place by defeating Stevenson Middle School. The boys from Palms edged out the team from Curtiss Middle School. Nobel Middle School earned third place over Belvedere Middle School. All teams were well coached and the athletes displayed excellent basketball skills and good sportsmanship.
The Middle School Unit of the Los Angeles Unified School District Beyond the Bell Branch which implements the after school sports program at all 95 middle schools superbly organized the finals.
