New All-Access Field Opens
Los Angeles City and County’s first All-Access Sports field was dedicated on September 20, 2012. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles City Council members and LA84 Foundation Vice President Grants & Programs Patrick Escobar were on hand to open the Barry A. Sanders Sports Field, named after the President of the Board of Commissioners for Recreation and Parks.
The LA84 Foundation contributed financially to the $800,000 project spearheaded by the Los Angles Parks Foundation. The field has a rubberized surface designed for wheelchairs, walkers and those with an unsteady gait due to physical limitations. Users will be able to play baseball, soccer and basketball.
