Pure Game
Pure Game is a nonprofit organization created in 2009 with the mission to teach character values to youth through an introductory form of soccer that is open and appealing to all. The organization serves more than 1,500 participants a year in the introductory soccer program. Pure Game offers in-school and after-school programming at more than ten elementary and middle schools in Orange County the surrounding communities including Anaheim, Santa Ana and Garden Grove. There is no fee charged to the participants to compete in the Pure Game soccer program. Pure Game provides coaches that they call “Field Champions” who serve as mentors to help children develop character through experiential learning. Pure Game’s character education curriculum is facilitated through the game of soccer.
The Pure Game soccer program is year-round soccer program that offers a series of 10-week leagues to participants. The program offers three levels of play: (1) Pure Game Discovery is a fun, fast-paced game that includes basic soccer skill instruction. It is designed for the child with no soccer experience and is an excellent way to introduce them to the game. (2) Pure Game Mastery is a program designed to take existing players and improve their base level of ball mastery. The Pure Game system places participants in high intensity game situations where they can practice newly learned skills without the pressure of wins and losses. (3) Pure Game Pro is a program designed for the truly committed player. The Pure Game system is used to educate players in the technical and tactical aspects of the game. The speed at which the game is played at this level requires a player to think and act fast.
