LA84 & LA Clippers Celebrate 30th Anniversary of LA84 Olympic Games
The LA84 Foundation and the LA Clippers celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the 1984 Olympic Games, March 22, during the Clippers game against the Detroit Pistons.
LA84 Board Member Rafer Johnson and President Anita L. DeFrantz were introduced to the crowd at halftime, which included a video presentation on the Staples Center Live 4HD Scoreboard about the Foundation’s work. Johnson and DeFrantz also were interviewed by Fox Sports West prior to the game, which the Clippers won 112 to 103, as Clipper guard and 2012 U.S. Olympian Chris Paul recorded his 6,000th NBA assist.
Earlier in the week, on March 19, LA84 joined the Clippers, and other funding partners the California Endowment and Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks at the opening of new basketball courts at Algin Sutton Recreation Center in South Los Angeles. Clippers players and dance team members joined area kids in dedicating the new facility.
